At Rebound Pet Rehab, our underwater treadmill provides a safe, controlled and low-impact way to improve your pet’s strength, mobility, fitness and overall wellbeing.

Hydrotherapy can support pets recovering from injury or surgery, those living with arthritis or chronic pain, senior pets experiencing reduced mobility, and pets working towards weight loss or improved fitness and conditioning.

Every session is tailored to your pet’s individual needs, abilities and goals.

FITNESS & CONDITIONING

Initial Hydrotherapy Session

For pets without existing medical, injury or mobility concerns who are coming to Rebound for fitness, conditioning, muscle building, weight management or sporting performance.

Your pet’s first 45-minute session with our hydrotherapist includes a movement and muscle assessment, a gentle introduction to the underwater treadmill and plenty of time to build confidence.

We’ll gradually introduce the water and moving belt, adjust the treadmill to suit your pet and develop an individualised plan based on their needs and goals.

Feel free to bring your pet’s favourite treats — the tastier, the better!

FITNESS & CONDITIONING

Initial Rehabilitation Assessment

For pets with an existing medical condition, arthritis, injury, pain, mobility concern or surgical history.

Your pet’s first appointment is with one of our rehabilitation veterinarians, who will assess their movement, comfort and individual needs before developing a personalised rehabilitation plan.

If hydrotherapy is appropriate, it can then be incorporated into their ongoing program alongside treatments such as laser therapyacupuncturebiomechanical medicine and targeted rehabilitation exercises.

This ensures your pet receives the safest and most appropriate treatment for their condition.

Why hydrotherapy?

Exercising in water allows pets to move and strengthen their muscles while placing less load through their joints.

Our underwater treadmill uses heated water between 25–32°C, with adjustable water depth, treadmill speed and incline to suit each individual pet.

HYDROTHERAPY CAN HELP TO:

1

Build muscle strength and endurance

3

Reduce load on painful or recovering joints

5

Support circulation and flexibility

7

Support healthy weightloss and weight management

9

Build fitness & conditioning for active & sporting dogs

2

Improve mobility and joint movement

4

Improve balance, coordination and body awareness

6

Improve cardiovascular fitness

8

Maintain strength & mobility as pets age

10

Support recovery after injury or surgery

How does the underwater treadmill work?

The buoyancy of the water supports your pet’s body weight, allowing them to exercise with less impact through their joints.

At the same time, the natural resistance of the water makes the muscles work harder than they would when walking on land. By changing the water depth, treadmill speed and incline, we can adjust each session to provide the right level of support or challenge for your pet.

The warm water and gentle pressure surrounding the limbs can also promote comfort, circulation and flexibility while encouraging controlled, purposeful movement.
